Ten Percent Reservation for the Economically Backward should be Implemented: Mar Andrews Thazhath

Kakkanad: The Syro-Malabar Public Affairs Commission has protested against the action taken by various departments in denying 10 percent reservation to the economically backward non-reserved sections. In a petition to the Chief Minister, the Commission Chairman Mar Andrews Thazhath said that the government order implementing 10 percent reservation in government jobs and access to education should be implemented effectively.

The Plus-One, Nursing-Paramedical Admissions Notices, Prospectus and Application Forms for this academic year have been published excluding the 10 percent reservation for the financially backward in the non-reserved categories. The state public education department and the health department have ignored the government order that each administration should ensure this reservation in the institutions under it. Mar Andrews Thazhath asked the government that this was unjust and that the Chief Minister should immediately intervene and give the necessary instructions.

In a press release, Mar Andrews urged all concerned to be vigilant so that the economically backward sections of the non-reserved sections do not lose out on the benefits of reservation.
