Eminent public intellectual and author Dr K S Radhakrishnan has been selected for the first edition of ‘Smriti Govindam’ Award-2023 — set up in memory of late M K Govindan Nair, academician and former Prant Sanghchalak of Kerala —- for his contribution to Sanatana Dharma. Goa Governor Adv. PS Sreedharan Pillai will present the award, instituted by Prof MK Govindan Nair Memorial Foundation and Changaveettil Kudumba Yogam, at an event in Thattayil, near Pandalam, Kerala, on October 14. The award carries Rs 25,000 in cash and a citation.

Radhakrishnan has written several scholarly works in Malayalam and English for the promotion of Indic thought. A jury comprising senior journalist KSR Menon selected the award winner.

Besides Radhakrishnan, two former pracharaks Shiv Das and M I Sukumaran will also be honored at the event in recognition of their personal sacrifices and fight for freedom of speech and democratic values during Emergency.

Novelist and scriptwriter Babu G Nair and Commonwealth Essay Competition winner Aditi S Nair will also be honored at the event.

Among others, senior RSS pracharak J Nandakumar and Kerala Prant Pracharak Sudarshan will grace the occasion.

The Foundation which proposes to undertake several educational projects in future for the benefit of students from economically backward sections of society has earlier provided financial assistance to Sewa Bharati for undertaking flood relief activities.
